Marble Hill Nuclear Facility - Marble Hill, IN

Marble Hill is the only Nuclear Power plant ever constructed in Indiana. Construction begin on the plant in 1977, but was abruptly halted in 1984 after financial woes preventing the completion of construction. The facility was never brought into operation.

Since this time the plant has been slowly demolished and much of it sold for scrap. To the best of my knowledge these are the last photographs taken before the west reactor was demolished. A conversation with a security guard in the area informed us that the demolition is still ongoing.

During the construction of the plant costs continually went up. After the discovery of air pockets in the concrete and the estimated 7.7 billion dollars needed to complete the site. It soon went bankrupt.
